About Laurian Ward

Laurian Ward is a qualified counselling psychologist who obtained her Masters in Psychology (Counselling) (Cum laude) from the University of Pretoria in 2008. Each client in her practice is valued as an individual and therapy is tailored to their specific needs. Laurian believes that each client is on a unique path, and has the potential to live a fulfilling and meaningful life as they embrace both their inner and physical resources. A life that feels like a balancing act can be approached with new-found confidence.

Laurian has an interest in trauma counselling and PTSD, and her counselling experience in the Trauma ICU and Trauma Ward of Charlotte Maxeke Hospital has made a significant contribution to her approach to therapy.

Chronic Pain

Laurian is also interested in the reciprocal relationship between chronic illness and mental health, which has been influenced by her work with people who have medical conditions that affect their emotional well-being, such as chronic pain.

Career Counselling and Study Skills

Laurian completed her internship at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) where she gained extensive experience working with teenagers and students, and which contributed to her interest in helping people with career counselling and study skills.

Workplace Wellness

Laurian facilitateds corporate Workplace Wellness Programmes, helping the individual employees of large companies manage the challenges of the modern workplace.

Laurian has presented workshops that addressed depression and its impact on a person’s everyday life. The presentation was titled “Turning the tide” and was presented at a corporate as well as at the Diabetic Society of South Africa (Centurion branch).

Laurian was also interviewed for an article on mother and daughter relationships.
